Onra – Soulful Joints

Stepping up next this month is Paris’ very own Onra, with a podcast that’ll probably catch a few by surprise. We’ve featured Onra on the show before (we had a mini-feature on the man back in September, peep the archives) and we’re big fans so it’s a pleasure to have him guest on the show.

The mix’s been a while in the making, and once it landed we were very pleasantly surprised. As Onra put it:

“This is 100% soul music, selected from original vinyls. I put a lot of my favorite songs in it… I didnt want to do the regular “beatmaker podcast” thing……. I think it’s boring and a lot of people do it better already. I called it simply soulful joints. There is no tracklisting.”

Fans of Joe Beats’ last podcast (which was aired in November last year) should find this the perfect follow up for it, and anyone not up on some, or a lot, of this stuff will also find plenty to look forward to.

Onra’s latest album, ’1.0.8′, has just got a proper release on Favorite and you can find it here. Recommended for fans of instrumental hip hop and good beats. His first ‘album’ (of sorts), ‘Chinoiseries’, is also still available and heavily recommended on some Vietnamese pop meets J Dilla type stuff. For the latest on Onra check the myspace.
