<itunes:summary>Born in 2005 from the ashes of Turntable Radio and helmed by Mr Trick and Waxfactor, Rhythm Incursions started life as a radio show airing music that 'picked up where hip hop stopped'. Since then it has evolved to continue its mission and today - in a world where hip hop has evolved to embrace its mutations that were the exceptions rather than the norm only a few years ago - it provides discerning music for discerning ears with monthly shows and guest mixes from hand picked worldwide DJs, producers and labels. The Rhythm Incursions presenting team now includes Primus Luta and DDay One from the USA, Raid System from Tokyo and Laurent Fintoni from London as well as two exclusive guest mix series curated by Friends of Friends and Raid System. We love the music we play and we think you will too.</itunes:summary>

We return to Los Angeles for the first show of the year hosted by our man DDay One. In fine style he’s bringing you fresh sounds arranged around a theme taken from a best-selling book by Napoleon Hill. I’ll let him explain it all…

This time it’s a tribute to the Great Depression era bestselling book “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. This session is along the lines of the Blend Meditation mixes in that the music was specifically chosen to create an atmosphere that motivates the listener.

This time it’s a tribute to the Great Depression era bestselling book “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. Blended in between classic breaks, atmospheric pulses and world premieres are brief descriptions of the principles of the text, taken from an LP of the same title narrated by Earl Nightingale (circa 1956).

We roll firmly into autumn with an extended show, clocking at just under 2 hours. Fear not though as it’s a case of all the good bits and none of the fat, combined with a majority of tracks being longer than usual and my opting to let them play out. Also this month we shine a light on one of our favourite, and often slept on, producers: 2econd Class Citizen.

New music comes from the likes of Breakestra, Kid Koala, Shafiq Husayn, Om Unit, Subeena, Kryptic Minds, Shawn Lee, Dorian Concept, Dextah and more. We’ve got previews of forthcoming albums from Foreign Beggars, Aardvarck, Themselves, Robot Koch and the aforementioned 2econd Class Citizen. From the deeper ends of the dubstep spectrum to cinematic instrumental hip hop via modern boom bap and lush vocals, we’ve got it all nicely covered.

2econd Class Citizen, signed to Equinox Records, is someone who’s been on our radar for years now, since the Needlework days, and ahead of his debut album on the German label we’ve put together a small selection of tracks from his discography, including some favourites like Wishin Well. Fans of instrumental hip hop, especially towards the more cinematic, moody end of things, should definitely pay attention if the name isn’t already familiar to them. Not only that the man has an incredible knack for flipping samples in a haunting fashion as well as blending a certain folk aesthetic into his beats.

As usual check the tracklist below for full details of where to cop the music, how to support the artists and more. Subscribers should have the podcast on its way to their hard drives as we speak, and if you haven’t already then may we suggest you add our RSS feed or iTunes channel to your favourites?

Stay tuned for more guest mixes and some surprises throughout October. Up next it’s back to L.A with DDay One.

New music comes from the likes of Breakestra, Kid Koala, Shafiq Husayn, Om Unit, Subeena, Kryptic Minds, Shawn Lee, Dorian Concept, Dextah and more. We've got previews of forthcoming albums from Foreign Beggars, Aardvarck, Themselves, Robot Koch and the aforementioned 2econd Class Citizen. From the deeper ends of the dubstep spectrum to cinematic instrumental hip hop via modern boom bap and lush vocals, we've got it all nicely covered.

2econd Class Citizen, signed to Equinox Records, is someone who's been on our radar for years now, since the Needlework days, and ahead of his debut album on the German label we've put together a small selection of tracks from his discography, including some favourites like Wishin Well. Fans of instrumental hip hop, especially towards the more cinematic, moody end of things, should definitely pay attention if the name isn't already familiar to them. Not only that the man has an incredible knack for flipping samples in a haunting fashion as well as blending a certain folk aesthetic into his beats.

As usual check the tracklist below for full details of where to cop the music, how to support the artists and more. Subscribers should have the podcast on its way to their hard drives as we speak, and if you haven't already then may we suggest you add our RSS feed or iTunes channel to your favourites?

Stay tuned for more guest mixes and some surprises throughout October. Up next it's back to L.A with DDay One.

We continue full steam ahead this month with the first of 3 L.A. exclusive mixes, courtesy of our man in the city of angels Dday One. First up is Namo, an L.A. area DJ who has put together a ‘Full Flavour’ mix for us that ticks all the boxes at the Rhythm Inc HQ and has been getting some serious rotation.

We’ll let Dday do the introductions…

“L.A. area DJ Namo, of Long Beach’s premiere weekly wednesday downtempo, hip hop, acid jazz and trip hop spot, The Downbeat Lounge. Last year he dropped his extra long EP ‘The Beat Book’. Based on what he spins live, it was only natural the album was full of deep, down-tempo heavy instrumentals, the kind you might need to pop a painkiller to enjoy. Beautiful, jazzy and dreamy, instantly head-nod worthy, extra slow break-beat with lots of pianos and horns.”

There’s plenty more info over on his myspace. For now though sit back and relax with over an hour of beats old and new in very fine L.A. style. The perfect accompaniment to the recent good weather and incoming spring.
