<itunes:summary>Born in 2005 from the ashes of Turntable Radio and helmed by Mr Trick and Waxfactor, Rhythm Incursions started life as a radio show airing music that 'picked up where hip hop stopped'. Since then it has evolved to continue its mission and today - in a world where hip hop has evolved to embrace its mutations that were the exceptions rather than the norm only a few years ago - it provides discerning music for discerning ears with monthly shows and guest mixes from hand picked worldwide DJs, producers and labels. The Rhythm Incursions presenting team now includes Primus Luta and DDay One from the USA, Raid System from Tokyo and Laurent Fintoni from London as well as two exclusive guest mix series curated by Friends of Friends and Raid System. We love the music we play and we think you will too.</itunes:summary>

Been looking forward to this one for a while now. Ladies and gents I am very happy and honoured to bring you a guest mix from the one and only Mweslee, courtesy of the Donky Pitch family.

All the way from Vigo, in Northern Spain, Mweslee is undoubtedly one of the more interesting and sonically fascinating producers to have emerged of the 00s worldwide hip hop renaissance. I first heard him thanks to the homie Javier from Serie B, who sent me Mweslee’s contribution to All City Records’ 7×7 series while I was living in Japan. Then it was the turn of Dom and Martyn from LuckyMe to mention the man, during our interview back in ’08. A little after that we met on Twitter and I was asked by the Nod Navigators label to do some work for the one sheet of his latest release, the Eurocarne EP – which dropped earlier this year and is still one of our favourite joints from 2010 (here bits from it here).

Internet is all good and well but it’s always nicer when you can meet people in person. Which is what happened when Om Unit and I popped down to CAMP in London in Spring to see Mweslee and The Blessings in action for a Nod Navigators showcase. Not only did we get to meet Mwes and the LuckyMe head honchos, but also the lovely gents from Donky Pitch – who are once more responsible for bringing you this killer guest mix. It has to be said Mweslee’s live showcase that night stays with me as one of the hypest performances I’ve seen this year. If he comes to a town near you, don’t even think twice about reaching.

As for the mix, it’s in celebration of Donky Pitch’s label launch which happens next week, October 23rd in Brighton – home of the donkies. Mweslee is flying over, alongside Alex Nut, Slugabed, Ghost Mutt and Donky DJs. Once more a line up worth making the trip down south for, or if you live in the area getting off your couch for. Trust us it’s bound to be memorable. Tickets are available for £5 here.

EDIT: Bflecha, labelmate to Mweslee on the Arkestra label, has now been added to the line up for the launch party!

The Donky Pitch label kicks off with the appropriately titled ‘Donky Stomp’ EP a split release between Donky family members Slugabed and Ghost Mutt, featuring a remix of the title cut by Mweslee. Regular listeners will have heard the track on recent shows from both myself and RIRS. And if you didn’t then Soundcloud is your friend.

The EP drops October 25 in all good record and online shops worldwide. If you know what’s good for you then you’ll go and grab on sight. Expect more from the Brighton boys, especially with a debut release setting the bar so high.

For more on all things Donky check the Facebook page. Mweslee lives on Myspace but also over at the excellent Arkestra collective, which he co-runs.

The party is next Saturday, and release following Monday. For more Donky sounds check Soundcloud as well as our first guest mix from the collective, courtesy of the mighty French MPC don Fulgeance.

As always mix is below to download and/or stream. On the request of Mweslee we will not be releasing the tracklist until the mix reaches 1000 downloads – so you know what to do. Trust us it’s worth the download, the time and the attention. I can’t remember the last time a guest mix didn’t go well over 1000 so I expect you all to do the right thing. The mix features quite a few exclusives and quite frankly some killer styles. Check back to see the tracklist as and when the limit is reached.

For now just sit back, and get your donky on. Much love and thanks to Mwes and the Donky family for thinking of us once more.

The latest installment of our joint mix series with the Friends of Friends label comes from Barcelona based producer My Dry Wet Mess, who’s the latest signing to Daedelus’ Magical Properties label. The young producer has been popping up on everyone’s radars as of late, and made it onto mine a few days ago (late I know) when Om Unit played me his unofficial remix of Actress’ ‘Maze’ – my mind was suitably blown. With this in mind I’m rather chuffed to have the man drop by for our series with a tasty mix.

Here’s what he had to say on the mix…

I made this mixtape with the same attitude of recording a tape for a trip by car back in the days… when I couldn’t wait to be on the road and play my most recent discoveries to my friends (over and over). So it’s mostly songs I’ve been listening to non stop in the last few days plus a couple of tracks I’ve been working on. MDWM

The man obvioulsy has great musical tastes in line with our own considering half the tracklist has also been on loop in my iPod for the last month or so. Alongside Rhythm Inc favourites like Mweslee, Hud Mo, Mount Kimbie, Dorian Concept, Kan Kick and American Men, the man’s own productions stand out most for me – hinting at what’s to come hopefully.

As with previous mixes in this series the photo was also sourced especially for the occasion by Leeor at FoF, and once more it comes courtesy of Oliver Kish. Massive thanks to Leeor and MDWM for this. Stay tuned for the next episode next month!

Fresh from dropping a free EP entitled Future Black Gurl (which you can still cop here), Marques Lafelt returns to the Rhythm Inc airwaves with a guest mix, his second for us after his Exit Music one last April.

Originally from L.A and now relocated to Brooklyn, Marques has put together 45 minutes of sickly sweet productions on a lover’s tip full of chunky drums and floating synthesizer melodies. The likes of Sa-Ra, Erykah Badu, J. Davey and Vikter Duplaix all feature among many others. It’s a lovely little mix to get you in the mood or to just get you vibing in the office, or on the road.

Tracklist and download and streams are all found below. For more on Marques check his bandcamp and the Content label myspace. You can also hear more Marques productions in Dday’s In Session Series. Big thanks to both him and Dday One for hooking us up with this lovely mix.

<itunes:summary>Fresh from dropping a free EP entitled Future Black Gurl (which you can still cop here), Marques Lafelt returns to the Rhythm Inc airwaves with a guest mix, his second for us after his Exit Music one last April.

Originally from L.A and now relocated to Brooklyn, Marques has put together 45 minutes of sickly sweet productions on a lover's tip full of chunky drums and floating synthesizer melodies. The likes of Sa-Ra, Erykah Badu, J. Davey and Vikter Duplaix all feature among many others. It's a lovely little mix to get you in the mood or to just get you vibing in the office, or on the road.

Tracklist and download and streams are all found below. For more on Marques check his bandcamp and the Content label myspace. You can also hear more Marques productions in Dday's In Session Series. Big thanks to both him and Dday One for hooking us up with this lovely mix.

We return with another 2 hours of musical goodness, in time for Spring’s first glimpses too. Well I say that but now the weather has turned bad again here in the UK so maybe we spoke too soon. Still you can find solace in this month’s show thanks to a rather tasty line up of new and forthcoming music as well as a few exclusives thrown in for good measure.

This month we take a closer look at the All City Records label, a long time favourite here at Rhythm Inc towers. This year they’ve really stepped up their game with a follow up to their 2008 Beatstrumental 7″ series in the shape of the L.A 10×10 series (more on that here including some freebies) as well as a string of LPs, 12s and 7s from worldwide artists that reads like a who’s who of people we like: Onra, Devonwho, Muhsinah, and more. All of which warrants a mini feature and no doubt you’ll continue to see the label in our tracklist throughout the year (and most likely in our best of 2010 as well).

Alongside this we’ve got music from James Blake, Tom Trago, Bonobo, Free the Robots, Funki Porcini, Himuro Yoshitery, Mweslee, Shigeto, Mux Mool, FaltyDL, Gonjasufi and many many more. Oh and we’ve also got the world premiere (no lie) of the Shigeto remix of Om Unit’s ‘The Corridor’ a truly beautiful number that should see light of day in a few months as part of the digital release for the EP of the same name.

For now though, sit back, grab the pipe and slippers and settle down for 2 hours of some of the best music around in glorious 320 quality. As usual you can stream and/or download the show below. And may we take this opportunity to also suggest you subscribe to our iTunes, RSS or email newsletter so that you can get the shows directly to your inbox. Find the full tracklist and links to where you can buy all the music below as well.

And stay tuned for some very special guest mixes coming up including Throwing Snow, Himuro Yoshiteru, another Japan special courtesy of Raid System and a couple others I can’t just say right now.

Peace!

We return to the more ‘regular’ Rhythm Incursions shows this week, and with both Trick and Waxfactor unfortunately otherwise engaged and unable to step up as they normally do (real life’s crazy like that!) I’m strapping on my presenter goggles and bringing you an hour of fresh new music. Considering it’s been about 2 months since the last show, there’s quite a few bits to get stuck into from the likes of Mochipet, Mighty Joseph, Uncle Lew, Nosaj Thing, Mweslee, Dilla, Samiyam and Free The Robots. Oh and we’ve got a mini-feature on the excellent Various Production too.

I was lucky enough to be travelling for the last couple of months, and the contents of the show reflect that to some extent, with quite a few tracks from people I hooked up with during my travels. Same goes for the Various Production mini-feature, with a taste of things to come from them as well as a look at some of their recent releases. Elsewhere we’ve got a brand new track from the recent ‘One Year and A Day’ compilation on Equinox, a track from the excellent 7×7 series on the Irish All City Records, Samiyam on Kode 9′s ever evolving Hyperdub label and RI favourite The Bug with another track from his recent ‘London Zoo’ album which we really can’t recommend enough.

The show comes to you in glorious high-quality 320 mp3 as always, with a direct download link below for those not subscribed (and let’s face it, what are you waiting for?!). Check the tracklist and links for more info on all the artists and releases. Enjoy!

<itunes:summary>We return to the more 'regular' Rhythm Incursions shows this week, and with both Trick and Waxfactor unfortunately otherwise engaged and unable to step up as they normally do (real life's crazy like that!) I'm strapping on my presenter goggles and bringing you an hour of fresh new music. Considering it's been about 2 months since the last show, there's quite a few bits to get stuck into from the likes of Mochipet, Mighty Joseph, Uncle Lew, Nosaj Thing, Mweslee, Dilla, Samiyam and Free The Robots. Oh and we've got a mini-feature on the excellent Various Production too.

I was lucky enough to be travelling for the last couple of months, and the contents of the show reflect that to some extent, with quite a few tracks from people I hooked up with during my travels. Same goes for the Various Production mini-feature, with a taste of things to come from them as well as a look at some of their recent releases. Elsewhere we've got a brand new track from the recent 'One Year and A Day' compilation on Equinox, a track from the excellent 7x7 series on the Irish All City Records, Samiyam on Kode 9's ever evolving Hyperdub label and RI favourite The Bug with another track from his recent 'London Zoo' album which we really can't recommend enough.

The show comes to you in glorious high-quality 320 mp3 as always, with a direct download link below for those not subscribed (and let's face it, what are you waiting for?!). Check the tracklist and links for more info on all the artists and releases. Enjoy!
