<itunes:summary>Born in 2005 from the ashes of Turntable Radio and helmed by Mr Trick and Waxfactor, Rhythm Incursions started life as a radio show airing music that 'picked up where hip hop stopped'. Since then it has evolved to continue its mission and today - in a world where hip hop has evolved to embrace its mutations that were the exceptions rather than the norm only a few years ago - it provides discerning music for discerning ears with monthly shows and guest mixes from hand picked worldwide DJs, producers and labels. The Rhythm Incursions presenting team now includes Primus Luta and DDay One from the USA, Raid System from Tokyo and Laurent Fintoni from London as well as two exclusive guest mix series curated by Friends of Friends and Raid System. We love the music we play and we think you will too.</itunes:summary>

Just over 3 years ago when I first started helping Mr Trick with Rhythm Incursions we aired a guest mix from Germany’s Snatchatec called Indigo – a mix CD the man had self-released. Snatchatec was a long time collaborator and friend of DJ Scientist, who runs Equinox records. Together they did a project called the Dedicated Beatheads in 2007, which we aired on Turntable Radio. Our own long standing relationship with Scientist is how the hook up for Indigo came to happen. The mix proved one of our more popular mixes in 2008, and was a perfect example of Snatchatec’s deft mixing and scratching and ear for cinematic selections.

You can still listen to and download Indigo right here.

Sometime towards the end of last year Snatchatec got in touch again to say he’d done a follow up to Indigo and would we be up for airing it – the answer to which was of course yes. In that time, he’s continued to work with Scientist and Equinox records, with whom he’s toured and recorded, as well as his own Deckpackers project. Most notably he provided a remix for Scientist and Ceschi’s Same Old Love Song 12″ release in 2009.

So ladies and gents to kick start February we’re very happy to bring you Indigo pt.2 – another hour long ride into the finest beats and productions of recent years, with a truly cinematic feel that’s hard to resist. The mix features plenty of producers who have long been friends and favourites of ours here at Rhythm Inc towers, from Sixtoo and former presenter Joey Beats to Maker, Ooah, edIT, Scientist, 2econd Class Citizen and Mochipet.

As always you can stream and/or download below or simply subscribe to the RSS/iTunes/newsletter and get every show directly in your inbox.

Many thanks to Snatchatec for the mix. For more on the man check his myspace and his own website.

We return with a guest mix on this fine monday as our monthly shows for August have been pushed to friday. Next up in our ever growing line up of guests is Vangel, a Canadian producer and DJ who I think I first came across via the work we do on Turntable Radio. Details are hazy but for the last couple of years he’s been on our radar with various releases and collaborations, notably his EP for Scientist’s Equinox records (which we aired last year).

Over the last few months we got talking about a guest spot on the show for which the man came up with ‘In My Rumination’ a mix that fits more than perfectly within the Rhythm Inc cannon. Over 50 minutes Vangel takes you everywhere and back, weaving the likes of DJ Shadow, Four Tet, El-P, Prefuse, Caribou, Battles, Koushik, Thom Yorke and more together alongside some of his own productions. The result is a blissfull ride into music perfect to help get over the monday morning blues.

For more on Vangel be sure to check his site where you can find more info and links on all his releases and more.

Update: Vangel just told us he’s currently working on a debut LP entitled Breadth Control and you can get some free and not-free bytes right here http://vangel.bandcamp.com/.

And for now just crank up the volume and enjoy!

Our next guest installment comes from Germany with a mix from DJ Snatchatec, Equinox records affiliate and partner in crime of Rhythm Incursion friend and favourite DJ Scientist. It was actually Scientist who recommended the mix to us, and after a listen it was obvious this was a perfect fit for a Rhythm Incursions guest slot, with a selection that echoes the show’s ethos of picking up where hip hop stops and strikes similarities with plenty of previous playlists. And on top of that Snatchatec’s nice on the turntables and adds the right amount of skills to his excellent selection, turning in an instantly listenable mixes with plenty of replay value. But enough of the words, tracklist, download links and more info after the jump.

As you can see from the tracklist we weren’t lying when we said this mix is a perfect fit for Rhythm Incursions, with the likes of Sixtoo, edIT, Jel, Clutchy Hopkins, Blockhead as well as extended RI family member Joey Beats and more all making appearances. The mix can be downloaded below in a high quality mp3, however it is also still available to buy as a CD release from the Audiac label for 6 Euros. So if you like what you hear and want to support Snatchatec or like having a physical product rather than just a digital file than please head over here and show your support.

Big thanks goes to Snatchatec for letting us air this mix as well as to Scientist for the hook up.
